Slideshow

Saturday, February 6th, 2010

At last we can publish the slide show about the relief work that was done between Jan 15th to 23rd 2010 at the Haiti border at Jimani, explaining the entire effort step by step and approved by the brothers involved. It was written by my brother using images he and others took while doing their best to help the brothers.

For now this should be the definitive Jimani story. Meet the people that you’ve read about and see and share some of their experiences. Enjoy!

Don’t forget to full-screen it (click the button at the bottom task-bar). Sorry, no music, but you can always play the new Kingdom melodies in the background to get the full effect ;-) .

  1. In these sides it says WE and US a lot. Don’t you think it should read our christian brothers?

  2. Interesting point. I understand this slide-show is an excerpt of the report our christian brothers sent to the branch, written by our christian brothers who were personally involved, so saying WE and US came naturally at the time, while writing it in the third person seemed linguistically unnatural and also very long for such short texts. But rest assured that when our christian brothers wrote WE and US they are always referring to Our Christian Brothers. We know who we are.

  3. Hermann (not anonymous) says:

These sites are collections of first-hand accounts. To use the third person when talking about yourself would be schizophrenic, don’t we think so?

  4. To the Keeper of the Site:

I’m not sure I fully understand the question from Anonymous, but

We write in the first person when:
    1. We are quoting happenings as related by another person?
    2. We, as Individuals, are involved in a work
    3. We are part of a Group supporting a work.

WE as part of this international brotherhood can understand why the terms WE and US were used here in this site. It´s obvious, that the related accounts, quotes and slide commentaries have been made by individuals who fit the criteria mentioned above. Because, WE ¨impart… our own souls…¨ (1 Thess.2:8) to our brothers by our love, prayers, resources and time, our speech naturally reflects our oneness.

If we make the statement, ¨By the way, I understand that WE were there providing aid to our brothers only hours after the Quake.¨ No explanation is needed, we know what we mean when we say it and we know what we mean when we read it.

Thank YOU for letting us know what is going on with our brothers.

Thankyou all so much for the hard work n hours you have put in to making help available to our dear bros in Haiti. Jehovahs holy spirit is so evidently in action as the relief work is amazingly well organised, may Jah continue to help and bless you all.

  6. I’m very sorry that “Anonymous” apparently missed the whole spirit of the entire slide show and could only post a critique on lanugage usage.

On behalf of myself and my family & friends who I know have been grateful to see this information –

THANK YOU so much for taking the time and doing the additional work to share this with so many of us who could not be there to help.

  7. Following this site has been very encouraging. We are so far away but need to feel that things are being taken care of in these distressful circumstances, so we appreciate all of the regular updates. It’s so good to see how Jehovah’s spirit works to get things organized even when faced with such devastation. It makes us feel good to see our prayers being answered.

    Thanks again.

    Your Christian Sister,
    Gerrie
